Since the 1980s, Luiz Zerbini has developed a visual vocabulary of vibrant colors and geometrical or gestural motifs employed for abstraction or figuration. Whether in his paintings, installations or drawings, Zerbini’s process makes forms dismember into winding lines that evoke tropical vegetation or reveal striking patterns created from varied textures. The artist creates monotypes through printing fronds, fibers, stems, leaves and branches, articulating the presses’ unexpected results with the formal repertoire and natural design of the vegetal world.
With his seductive palette and technical prowess, the subjects taken up by Zerbini range from vegetable life to the historical, from collective to personal events.
